It’s commonplace to think of technology as soulless – and to think of technologists as dispassionate. But John Dalton is a prime example of how technology complemented with genuine human passion can be a powerful force for good.
As a young man, John witnessed first-hand how his own grandparents were mistreated and poorly cared for in a long-term senior facility. Both suffered from advanced dementia. His grandfather was also afflicted with extreme memory loss and a constant compulsion to escape from the facility that was to become his final home. His grandmother had deteriorated to the point that she was barely able to speak, eat, or engage in the simplest of daily activities.
John saw how his grandparents’ caretakers were both callous and ill-equipped for the difficult task of senior care. The real turning point came when John’s grandmother was assaulted by another resident in the facility. That’s when John determined he would do something to improve the quality and effectiveness of senior care.
And once he gained the requisite technological know-how—much of it from his top-tier education at New Jersey Institute of Technology—he knew how he would achieve his mission: Give providers of senior care the innovative solutions they need to properly protect those in their care, to offer the services necessary for optimizing quality-of-life for the residents in their facilities, and to keep residents in healthy contact with their loved ones and the outside world.
John Dalton
Founder
John’s company, ITI, became the foremost technology solutions design and delivery partner for senior care facilities seeking to leverage IT innovation to deliver superior health outcomes for their clientele, while achieving superior business performance for their ownership.
After establishing ITI’s leadership in all areas of senior care—including independent living, assisted living, long-term care, and memory care—John and his team of technology experts turned their attention to other markets where they believed their passion for innovation could do the most good for society. These markets include acute care, education, government, and houses of worship—all of which play a central role in the betterment of the communities they serve.
The particular genius of ITI’s approach under John’s leadership is the integration of diverse state-of-the-art technologies integrated in a unified architecture that ensures efficient, reliable orchestration of every organization’s complete portfolio of technology investments. This approach avoids the many problems and inefficiencies that result from piecemeal technology deployment—empowering organizations to get the maximum “bang” from every “buck,” while also simplifying and streamlining operations in order to aggressively reduce their total cost of technology ownership over the long term.
The technology investments that John and his team bring to bear for clients typically include superlative high-availability hardware-and-cabling infrastructure, advanced IT systems and applications, next-generation collaboration and communication, physical security and digital access controls
(including AI-enhanced audio/visual monitoring), digital signage, and mobile apps for anywhere/anytime operations.
John’s commitment to community service extends beyond his leadership role at ITI. He currently serves as Board Director for The Family Resource Network and a member of the Board of Directors for St. Rose High School in Belmar, NJ. He also donates his technology expertise pro bono to worthy community organizations.
